How Reef Jigsaw stays afloat
Every picture, dive and daily tide here is free, with nothing to sign up for. Hosting thirty-six large pictures is not free, though, so here is how the bills get paid — and the lines we will not cross.
Ads in marked spaces
Advertising pays the way. On pages meant for reading — the front page, the games list, the dive-site pages, the how-to-play page and its guides — you will find one space labelled “Advertisement”. Ads can only ever appear in those spaces.
For now no ad network is plugged in. Google AdSense is the one we are preparing; until it runs, each space carries a short note from us for advertisers and sponsors who want to get in touch.
Wherever there is a puzzle to solve — a numbered dive, a game page, today's tide or the weekly set — there is no ad space at all. The logbook and the contact, privacy and terms pages are kept clear too.
Sponsoring a dive site
A company can also support Reef Jigsaw directly by sponsoring a dive site, a game or the weekly set. Sponsored blocks are always marked “Sponsored by …” with the company's name, so they never pass for our own writing. A sponsor cannot change pictures, dives or field notes.
What we will not do
- Put ads over the board, between pieces or on the puzzle controls.
- Sell advantages: no paid hints, solves or extra sizes.
- Sell or hand over anything about our visitors.
- Throw pop-ups in front of a puzzle in progress.
