Blue Edge
Big animals and a lot of blue. These are the most demanding pictures on the site, because large parts of every frame are open water with very little detail.
6 pictures · 24 dives · on average 52% of each frame has little detail

Green turtle at the reef edge
A green sea turtle glides left to right over the edge of a coral reef, its patterned shell and flippers in sharp detail. The reef fills the lower left; the rest is open, deep blue water.
Main colours: ocean blue (54%), grey (14%), charcoal (14%) and deep blue (8%). Plain area: 53% of the frame.

Manta ray overhead
Seen from below, a manta ray glides beneath the surface with its wide wings spread. The sun bursts through the water at the top, and two small fish swim close under the manta's pale, spotted belly.
Main colours: sky blue (39%), deep blue (24%), ocean blue (14%) and slate grey (13%). Plain area: 65% of the frame.

A spiral of trevally
Hundreds of silver trevally swim in a tight spiral that narrows towards the bottom like a funnel. A dark reef wall rises on the left, and the rest of the frame is deep blue.
Main colours: ocean blue (40%), deep blue (37%) and sky blue (24%). Plain area: 40% of the frame.

Whale shark below the surface
A whale shark covered in white spots and pale stripes swims just below the surface, with a group of small yellow-striped fish leading the way in front of its mouth. Sun rays slant down through turquoise water.
Main colours: teal (62%), turquoise (26%) and slate grey (12%). Plain area: 66% of the frame.

Reef shark along the wall
A slender reef shark with a pale belly cruises along a steep wall of coral and sponges. Orange sea fans and round coral heads cover the wall on the right; the left half is deep blue open water.
Main colours: charcoal (27%), deep blue (27%), brown (20%) and slate grey (16%). Plain area: 40% of the frame.

Dolphins under the surface
Five bottlenose dolphins swim together just below the rippled surface, sunbeams fanning out between them. Below them the water fades to a deep, plain blue.
Main colours: ocean blue (53%), deep blue (35%) and sky blue (12%). Plain area: 45% of the frame.
The animals themselves are the easy part: a turtle's shell, the spots of a whale shark or the pale belly of a manta are full of pattern. The water around them is where the time goes. On jigsaw dives the plan suggests building the animal first, then sorting the blue pieces by the fine changes in brightness from the surface downwards.
If you are new to the site, try a Snorkel dive here before a Deep one. The numbered dives of this site use fewer, larger pieces where the picture is mostly water.
