Coral Garden
The busiest dive site in the logbook. Coral pictures are full of texture and colour, which makes them some of the friendliest puzzles here: almost every piece shows something you can place.
6 pictures · 24 dives · on average 17% of each frame has little detail

Anemonefish in their anemone
Two orange anemonefish with white bands nestle in a large anemone whose tentacles fill the right half of the frame. Above the brown coral boulders on the left, small blue fish swim in sunlit water.
Main colours: olive (24%), charcoal (20%), sky blue (19%) and kelp green (17%). Plain area: 21% of the frame.

Anthias over staghorn coral
A thicket of branching staghorn coral fills the lower half of the picture, and hundreds of small orange and pink anthias hover above it. The water surface and sun rays are visible at the top.
Main colours: teal (34%), olive (15%), turquoise (15%) and brown (14%). Plain area: 21% of the frame.

Parrotfish by a boulder coral
A large blue-green parrotfish with pink-edged fins swims past a huge rounded boulder coral. Soft yellowish corals rise on the right, and a few small blue and yellow fish swim in the deep blue at the top.
Main colours: ocean blue (29%), charcoal (24%), brown (15%) and olive (13%). Plain area: 23% of the frame.

Giant clam with a blue mantle
A giant clam fills most of the frame, its wavy shell open to show an electric-blue mantle dotted with dark spots. Branching and lumpy corals in beige, pink and lilac surround it.
Main colours: grey (37%), charcoal (25%), brown (17%) and sand (12%). Plain area: 0% of the frame.

Butterflyfish at a red sea fan
Two yellow and white butterflyfish with fine dark lines swim in front of a big red sea fan. Black and yellow feather stars cling to the reef below, and the left side of the picture is open deep blue water.
Main colours: brown (47%), ocean blue (30%), charcoal (11%) and deep blue (8%). Plain area: 33% of the frame.

Coral heads in a lagoon
Seen from above, a clear turquoise lagoon is dotted with dark coral heads of all sizes. Pale sandy patches wind between them, and gentle ripples cover the surface.
Main colours: teal (49%), turquoise (28%) and lagoon green (24%). Plain area: 3% of the frame.
The exception is open water. Where a picture looks up towards the surface, the blue above the reef is smooth and every piece of it looks the same. In the dive plans those areas are measured and named, so you know where the slow part of each puzzle will be before you start.
The lagoon seen from above is a different kind of challenge: lots of small dark coral heads scattered over pale sand, a pattern that repeats across the frame. It rewards patience more than a sharp eye.
